Welcome to

FIRA Frontier Camp 2024

2nd – 4th August 2024

An autonomous car is a vehicle capable of sensing its environment and operating without human involvement. A human passenger is not required to take control of the vehicle, nor is a human passenger required to be present in the vehicle at all. An autonomous car can go anywhere a traditional car goes and do everything that an experienced human driver does.

Autonomous Cars

Learning an introductory level knowledge of autonomous cars

Programming

Learning about the fundamental of programming using Scratch.

Python

Getting familiar with Python; An object-oriented and high-level programming language that is easy to learn and so popular in robotics.

About

Course Descritption

This year, we are pleased to announce the opening of the first FIRA Frontier Camp. The concept of the camp was developed based on feedback from former participants and teachers which is mainly focused on autonomous car challenges.

In this Frontier Camp, you will learn about how autonomous cars work and get a better understanding of the AI and magic behind these vehicles using simulation software. Upon successfully completing the course, students will be prepared to participate in the Autonomous Cars Race U19 League held in FIRA RoboWorld Cup 2025. The FIRA Frontier Camp will be conducted from the 2nd to the 4th of August 2024. By participating in this camp, students will have the opportunity to learn from experts in the field and hone their skills further. The motivation of the camp is to provide a unique opportunity to learn the fundamentals of robotics. The focus is on basic problem solving strategies, system development, testing, and debugging.

HOw

Course Requirements

The 2024 Frontier Camp focuses on project based learning in the field of autonomous cars challenges. There will be short lectures (about 1 hr in duration) that introduces the theory and fundamentals of the autonomous cars. A computer to test and execute the course programs in action is required. Following students will be asked to use their own development simulation environment and simulated robot to solve a part of this system.
